Werneth Low Cenotaph

On Werneth Low overlooking the town of Hyde, it commemorates the men of Hyde who died during the Great War of 1914-1919. A panel has been added to the rear remembering those fron the Second Word War. There are no names on the memorial.

KING AND COUNTRY



THEY WILLINGLY LEFT
THE UNACHIEVED PURPOSE
OF THEIR LIVES IN ORDER
THAT ALL LIFE SHOULD
NOT BE WRENCHED
FROM ITS PURPOSE




IN MEMORY OF
THE MEN AND WOMEN OF HYDE
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE WAR
1939 - 1945

There is a small garden of remembrance in the car park at the Higham Lane entrance to the Country Park


LEST WE FORGET

In this place of peace....
reflect on the wars that have brought such sorrow
remember those who died
those who suffer those who mourn

We inherit the benefits of such sacrifice
may we be thankful
an our lives work for justice and peace
