Snelston War Memorial

The memorial can be found at the junction of, Church Road, Cacklehill Lane and Littlefield Lane in the small village of Snelson. The cross commemorates seven men from the First World War and two from the Second.




The main inscription reads.
TO THE HONOURED MEMORY
OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH
WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 – 1918
GRANT THEM OH LORD
ETERNAL REST
AND MAY LIGHT PERPETUAL
SHINE UPON THEM

Died 27 Apr 1918 aged 43.

Husband of Mrs. E. E. Harrison (formerly Barker), of Pearl Bank, Marston Montgomery, Derby.

Lieutenant Richard EVANS.

Died 10 Aug 1917 aged 20.

Son of the Rev. Arthur Evans and Margaret Emma Evans, of 11, Marlborough Lane, Bath.
Native of Snelston, Ashbourne.

Died 16 Sep 1916 aged 24.
