Ashton-under-Lyne War Memorial

The Memorial was unveiled and dedicated on 22nd September 1922 and commemorates 1514 men who were killed in the Great War with 300 listed from the Second World War. It is located in Memorial Gardens at the end of Mossley Road in Ashton-under-Lyne. There are two tablets remembered those who have died in other conflicts since 1945.





The main plaque reads.

ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF
ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE AND DISTRICT
WHO FOUGHT FOR KING AND EMPIRE IN
THE GREAT WAR ESPECIALLY THOSE
WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES AND
WHOSE NAMES ARE RECORDED HEREON
